EMDR therapy

I am an EMDR practitioner (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) and have often used this modality with military veterans and police officers.

EMDR helps you process the negative images, beliefs and body sensations associated with traumatic memories that seem to be ‘stuck’. Unprocessed memories like this can contribute to a range of mental health challenges, flashbacks or feelings of fear, anxiety, and dysregulation. EMDR employs a technique called bilateral stimulation during which a therapist will guide the client through eye movements, tones or taps in order to move a memory that has been incorrectly stored to a more functional part of the brain.
